Sydney and Lincoln
Sydney moved to Charleston in 2005 when she began school at the College of Charleston. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education before beginning a twelve year career teaching at Goodwin Elementary School. Sydney’s career in Education thrust her into the world of advocacy, and it gave her a heart for her community. At the end of 2022, Sydney left the classroom to enter the business world. She now works for Rockwell Construction LLC, a family owned company that focuses on preserving the history of Charleston homes.
Sydney’s love for her community led her to make the leap from advocacy to public service. She sees the need to have a county council that is focused on the day to day lives of the citizens of Charleston. She sees the need for West Ashley and North Charleston to have representation that understands their needs for reasonably priced homes, roads that don’t flood each time it rains, traffic relief, and smart solutions to over-development.
Sydney’s love for her community can only be matched by her love for the coastal land that we call home. Whether looking for shark teeth, spending the day on the water with her Goldendoodle Lincoln, or watching the sun set over the Ashley River, Sydney spends her free time in the outdoors. This love for nature will ensure that Sydney considers the environmental impact on every decision placed in front of her.
